So I have had a couple of emails asking about my snowflakes. This is the only picture I have so it will have to do for now. There are 25 snowflakes for the 25 days before Christmas.
So we cut out the snowflakes as one of the 25 days and put ideas on each one on that day.
Here are some of my ideas, you are welcome to use any or all of them:
- PJ day – we stay in our PJ’s all day and just read or snuggle and tell stories.
- Make gingerbread cookies
- Decorate gingerbread cookies with Grandma – a favorite tradition at our house.
- Make a gingerbread house and decorate it with the other Grandma – a new tradition.
- Read aloud – we read aloud almost everyday but on this day we get our mattress out and put it on the living room floor with Mom’s big duvet and we snuggle up and I read to them.
- Movie night – we all sit down with popcorn and maybe even pop – which is a HUGE treat around our household, and watch a family movie. We might have 2 or 3 of the snowflakes with this on it. We love to watch Prancer and LOVE Mr. Magoriums Wonder Emporium – and some other all time favorites.
- Make cards – I have a TON of stamping stuff so we get it all out and the kids just craft away. These cards they can give away to their friends or family.
- Craft day – we’ll probably have a few of these on the snowflakes since our kids love doing crafts. We have made little elves out of alphabet blocks and felt for the arms and legs.
- Decorate the house – this is usually on day two. The kids LOVE this day where we put up our little Christmas village and make a scene.
- We will have a few free days – where the kids get to decide what they want to do. Each one would have the name of one of the children on them so that there is no arguing as to who got to have a free day last
- Snow day where we go out sliding together – we have a great hill in our backyard. This includes hot cocoa with little marshmallows. The children usually draw this on that snowflake.
- We often have a prayer day where we’ll sit around together and talk about who we could pray for and what the needs of others are.
- Special meal day – my kids LOVE this one. We spend all day cleaning the house and cooking and baking. We set the table beautifully using all the best crystal ect. and we sit down to a special meal as a family. Us girls do our hair pretty and wear the prettiest dress, the boys are all dressed up in their most handsome get up. Daddy starts with me, and we go around the table saying something special about each person by name. Then Mom starts with Dad and then each child by name; then the children have a turn. The kids LOVE hearing praise from their Dad especially! This is an ALL TIME favorite thing to do.
- We also take one day to do something special for Daddy, it’s Daddy’s Day. The kids make crafts for him, bake him something and give it to Daddy when he gets home from work.
I can’t think of any more but you get the idea. I’ve also done something similar for my husband. This idea came from a friend but I make a chain with construction paper and hang it in the privacy of our bedroom. Things I’d put on there might be One back rub, One foot rub, Date night…lots of other things can go on there too! Remember this is in the privacy of your room so no one else will read it! ~giggle~ It’s just a time to focus on your husband and marriage, a secret thing just for the two of you

Laurel, Thanks so much for sharing your snowflakes. You have such great ideas! I can’t wait to start using them. Hugs from the U.S.
These are the GREATEST ideas! I’m actually doing your #1 idea right now….woke up with a sore throat (yuck), but I’m in the recliner with my PJ’s on, dog in the lap, and covered with a snowman blanket!
I love your snowflakes! They are so great!
I’ll be home all day….drop me a line if your home.
Much love
